Desalination, Water Treatment & Dewatering

From the water sample to operation and maintenance — a plant designed around your water, not a generic specification.

Riyadh and all regions of the Kingdom

There is no off-the-shelf treatment plant that suits every case: groundwater at one site differs in salinity, hardness and iron content from another, and a plant specified before the water is analysed usually underperforms or fails outright. At MEIC we analyse first and design second, delivering desalination and treatment plants and dewatering works across Riyadh and the Kingdom.

Reverse osmosis (RO) desalination plants

Reverse osmosis is the most common way to reduce groundwater salinity to a level fit for the intended use. But a plant is more than its membranes — it is a chain of stages, each with a purpose, and neglecting pre-treatment is the leading cause of premature membrane failure.

  • Pre-treatment: Sand and carbon filters and micron cartridges to remove suspended solids and chlorine before the water reaches the membranes.
  • Chemical dosing: Antiscalant and pH adjustment to protect the membranes from scaling and extend their life.
  • Membrane unit: Selecting membrane count and array according to feed salinity, required output and recovery ratio.
  • Post-treatment and storage: Conditioning, storing and pumping the product water, plus disinfection where required.

Sewage treatment plants

For facilities and compounds beyond the public sewer network, a treatment plant converts wastewater into treated water suitable for irrigation and other non-potable uses under the applicable requirements — instead of permanent reliance on tanker removal.

Design is driven by daily flow, its character, and the required output quality, and covers mechanical and biological treatment stages plus final disinfection. We build and commission the plant and offer operation and periodic maintenance contracts to keep performance stable.

Dewatering works

Dewatering is essential on construction sites with a high groundwater table, and in emergencies such as flooded basements, tunnels and sites after rain. Delay does not just stop work — it threatens the integrity of the foundations themselves.

We carry out dewatering with pumps sized to the situation, together with discharge lines and a compliant discharge point, and we provide an emergency service for sudden flooding.

What drives the cost

Plant cost is set by the required daily output, the feed-water analysis (salinity, hardness, iron, suspended solids), the required product-water quality, the level of automation and control, site works such as bases, canopies and power supply, and whether the contract includes operation and maintenance.

The first step is always a laboratory analysis of your water. Contact us on 0554097005 and we will advise what to test before we discuss any specification or price.

Frequently Asked Questions

We’ve gathered the most common questions our clients ask and answered them clearly.

Through a laboratory analysis of a water sample covering total dissolved solids, hardness, iron, suspended solids and microbiological characteristics. That result determines the plant type and its stages. Any recommendation made before analysis is guesswork and may leave you with a plant unsuited to your water.
